Gardenside Brewing
CLIENT: GARDENSIDE BREWING
LOCATION: DETROIT, MI
YEAR: EXPECTED 2026
Nestled in a landscape of native plants, Gardenside Brewery will be a new brewery and restaurant located in the heart of Core City. Drawing on the neighborhood’s rich cultural history and recent creative developments, Gardenside aims to further the area's walkability and provide accessible public spaces.

On the site, a street facing plaza scattered with planting beds and seating draws visitors in from the street. Along the south of the building, a wood-framed pergola provides sheltered seating, while the courtyard surrounded by native plants creates lawns and pockets for enjoying the outdoors.

The building’s prefabricated structure is altered to create a dramatic corner, flooding the brewery with natural light and offering a direct connection to the surrounding landscape. Inside, reclaimed tile and renewable cork wall coverings reinforce the connection to nature, while swaths of color, custom wisteria-inspired lanterns, and modular planters complete the inviting atmosphere. Sustainability and environmental impact are central to the project, with strategies including rainwater collection, process water reclamation, high-efficiency electric systems, low-waste practices, and native landscaping.
With a vibrant, welcoming vibe inside and out, Gardenside Brewery will become an oasis for the community to gather around food, drink, and nature.
