LightHouse is a greenhouse-style three season porch addition to a home under renovation in Detroit’s East Poletown. As part of a larger renovation project including the artist's renovation of an adjacent industrial space into their studio and print shop, LightHouse will become a beacon of light and activity in this artist’s home. The project removes and restructures the front wall of the house, replacing the wall from ground floor to gable with glass, and adds a large east-facing deck and accessible ramp. Built of salvaged construction materials, the thin greenhouse addition will be filled with plants and space to relax. The sunlight filtering in through the thickened facade and the nighttime glow emananting from within blurs the boundary between interior and exterior space.
